In a tweet Tuesday, Donald Trump Jr. marked Halloween by saying that he planned to take half of his daughter's candy to "teach her about socialism."

"I'm going to take half of Chloe's candy tonight & give it to some kid who sat at home. It's never [too] early to teach her about socialism," the President's eldest son tweeted as a caption to a photo of his daughter dressed in a police officer costume and holding a bucket of candy.

Trump Jr.'s tweet quickly backfired, however, with more than 30,000 comments that sound a lot like these:

"Fill her bucket with old candy left by her great-grandfather, then explain that she has more because she's smarter than all the other kids," tweeted J.K. Rowling, author of the "Harry Potter" books.

Another tweet from the socialist magazine Jacobin read: "Just wait until she finds out about capital income!"

And one person on Twitter wrote that socialism "was her getting that free candy in the first place. You taking half for reasons she can't understand is capitalism."

This is not the first time the President's son has made rounds on Twitter for a candy-related metaphor.

Just last year, Trump Jr. took to Twitter with a metaphor involving a photo of a bowl full of Skittles.

In this metaphor, all of the Skittles were all refugees, but three of them were poison.
