Donald Trump Boasts About Melania Being a 'Very Popular First Lady' Despite Her Absence From the Campaign Trail

By now, Donald Trump is probably tired of answering the question, “Where is Melania?” However, it doesn’t seem like the press is going to let up until they get a satisfactory response, and the former president is trying to sell everyone on the idea that she loves that he’s running for the White House again.

In an interview on The Megyn Kelly Show podcast on Thursday, Kelly asked Donald Trump about the former first lady’s well-being since she’s been largely out of the public eye since she left the White House. “She’s doing very well. She’s very strong, very, very even keeled. And she’s a very good woman, as you know,” the former president responded. But he pulled one of his usual moves by adding superlatives to Melania’s former Washington, D.C. role.

“She was a very popular first lady. I mean, I go out to rallies, and they have pictures of Melania [saying], ‘We love our First Lady.’ So many posters were there in the audience…We had the biggest rallies we’ve ever had,” he claimed. And Donald Trump insists that everything is fine with his marriage, so there’s nothing to worry about (according to him). “She’s a very calm person. It’s very interesting, and I think that’s what people like about her. Our dinners are nice dinners, our dinners are like people’s dinners… we actually get along very well,” he added.

Even with this complimentary discussion of his wife, Donald Trump probably won’t see Melania on the campaign trail or in the courtroom for one of his four trials anytime soon. She prefers life out of the spotlight and doesn’t share the same ambitions as her husband — and if he wins the White House again, she will probably be a reluctant first lady.
