After Donald Trump Blinks, Nancy Pelosi Pushes, POTUS Pivots

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi pushed President Donald Trump via Twitter just before the dawn of Thursday and shortly after POTUS announced he would postpone SOTU and instead deliver “in the near future!” from the House chamber.

Pelosi, who controls the keys to that chamber, had said he would be invited back when the government re-opened; Trump previously punched back, saying she canceled SOTU because she did not want the country to know “the truth.”

Donald Trump Responds To Nancy Pelosi's SOTU Nuts To You: "Blotch On Country We All Love" - UPDATE

“Mr. President, I hope by saying ‘near future’ you mean you will support the House-passed package to #EndTheShutdown that the Senate will vote on” Thursday, she tweeted. “Please accept this proposal so we can re-open government, repay our federal workers and then negotiate our differences.”

Instead of responding, Trump made a sharp pivot Thursday morning.

“A great new book just out, “Game of Thorns,” by Doug Wead, Presidential Historian and best selling author,” Trump tweeted. “The book covers the campaign of 2016, and what could be more exciting than that?”

“Game of Thorns” was published in February of 2017.

Trump then quoted from the book – we think:

“This is everything FDR dreamed about, the New Deal to put America back to work. Think of LBJ, he gave people food stamps & welfare. Donald Trump’s giving them a job. He’s got a lot of good things to talk about. News stories do not accurately cover him, should correct.”

Pivoting again, Trump tweeted, “The economy is doing great….Media barely covers!” taking care of his daily morning Fox & Friends plug.

Pivoting sharply again, Trump called it “interesting” that “bad lawyer Michael Cohen, who sadly will not be testifying before Congress, is using the lawyer of Crooked Hillary Clinton to represent him – Gee, how did that happen?”

Trump’s former fixer Cohen on Wednesday postponed plans to testify before the House Oversight Committee, citing his concern about ongoing threats against his family by Trump and his new personal attorney Rudy Giuliani.

Another pivot: “The Fake News Media loves saying” his first summit with Kim Jong Un produced little of substance, Trump complained, boasting of the return to the U.S. of “hostages &remains” and “no more Rockets or M’s being fired over Japan or anywhere else” and “no Nuclear Testing.” No mention of new report researchers had discovered another secret ballistic missile base in North Korea, bring that tally to 20.

Finally pivoting back to Trump’s Border Wallgovernment shutdown, he tweeted “without a Wall there cannot be safety and security at the Border or for the U.S.A.” while reminding his base he had a new mantra, what with Mexico Will Pay For It! no longer applicable: “BUILD THE WALL AND CRIME WILL FALL!”
