Donald Glover may be a household name, but his younger brother, Stephen Glover, has also made a name for himself in the entertainment business.

The Community alum started collaborating with his younger brother early on in their careers, and the award-winning results speak for themselves.

“We don’t fight a lot,” Stephen once told Cyan Taylor at The Daily 411. “A lot of people ask why. I guess they expect brothers to fight, but we got a good understanding of each other. I understand that Donald knows what he’s doing and he trusts me too. … We know what we both bring to the table. We both know if we both feel good about something then it is going to be good.”

So who is Donald Glover’s brother? Here's everything to know about Stephen Glover and his relationship with the musician.

Stephen and Donald were raised as Jehovah’s Witnesses

In a 2018 interview with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show, the Atlanta star opened up about his upbringing.

“I was raised Jehovah’s Witness,” he told the late night host. “I didn’t have a lot of things growing up. … I was always taught the world was kind of a bad place, so whenever things came in I’d be like, ‘Yo, this is really dope.’ ”

According to The New Yorker, Stephen and Donald would record audio from episodes of The Simpsons and listen to it later to prevent their parents from finding out they had watched TV.

Despite his current creative endeavors, Stephen actually started off his higher education in STEM. According to a 2022 Complex interview, he enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology to study chemical engineering, but he soon realized that it wasn’t the right path for him.

“I realized, ‘Oh, just because I can do math doesn’t mean I want to spend my life doing it or working on problems in this way,’ ” he told the outlet.

He works as a screenwriter

After a few years of doing odd jobs around Atlanta, Stephen moved to Los Angeles to live with his older brother.

Atlanta was Stephen’s first screenwriting job, and the second episode was Stephen’s first script ever.

At the time, Donald knew he was up for the task, and he even gave his brother some American Dad scripts so he could gain a better understanding of structure and format.

“He was like, ‘The only thing you need to know is the format for scripts and the technical things. As far as the mind for it, you’ve got it,’ ” Stephen recalled to Complex.

He also raps and performs music for Atlanta

Stephen is actually the voice behind Atlanta’s unofficial theme song “Paper Boi.” In a 2016 interview with The Fader, Stephen revealed they were originally going to call the song “White Boi.”

“Then we realized we couldn’t use ‘White Boi’ because there might actually be a rapper named White Boi. So we’re like, ‘Okay, we’re gonna call this guy Paper Boi.’ It still works: ‘Paper Boi, Paper Boi, all about that paper, boi,’ that double entendre-, triple entendre-type thing,” he said. “That’s how it started.”

The Glover brothers will be collaborating again — this time with Disney.

Earlier this year, PEOPLE reported that the duo were set to serve as lead writers for a Star Wars TV spinoff, titled Lando. The sibling pair were tapped to take over after Justin Simien, the creator of Netflix’s Dear White People, exited the project.

In September, Lucasfilm confirmed to Variety, however, that the project is now being developed as a film instead.

They share a collaborative creative process

As evidenced by their résumés, the brothers enjoy working together. Stephen has said that their collaboration process relies on open and honest dialogue between them.

“First of all, we believe if it is funny to us, it will be funny to everybody,” Stephen told The Daily 411. “That is what I always tell him. If we laugh at it, then everybody else will laugh at it. So we kind of are just always bouncing ideas off each other, making each other laugh or just saying, ‘What if this happened?’ … Even after we’ll come up with ideas for episodes and things like that, we will come back together later when we’re hanging out like, ‘What do you think about this?’ ”

He added: “We’re just constantly gauging each other’s reaction to it. Then, if we both like it, then it’s good.”

They are inspired by Kanye West's albums

Kanye West had been an influential figure in the development of Atlanta.

"We’ve kind of been comparing the season to a sophomore record from a new artist,” director Hiro Murai, who received five Emmy nominations for Atlanta, said of season 2 in an interview with Rolling Stone. “Internally, we’ve drawn Kanye parallels — if the first season is College Dropout, this one is Late Registration."

Donald expressed a similar sentiment in an interview with IndieWire. When asked about Atlanta’s third season, he answered: “I feel like this is our Graduation. This is probably our most accessible but also the realest — an honest version of it — and I feel like the most enjoyable, like the third album.”

Stephen and Donald are no strangers to criticism

After season 3 of Atlanta aired, fans and critics had a lot to say. One Washington Post critic wrote a story titled “Why Atlanta Season 3 Was Such a Letdown,” which called the latest season “frustratingly uneven.” New York Magazine critics, meanwhile, expressed similar sentiments.

The sibling pair have taken the criticism in stride.

"Yeah, I know [season three] is polarizing, it seems — I didn’t expect it to be so polarizing, but I think that's probably the best thing you can hope for now,” Stephen told GQ in 2022. “Not like in a Lauren Boebert way of just saying something stupid and then two sides fight about it. But I think when things are challenging or thought-provoking, there's going to be a conversation and I think that's the best thing we could have hoped for, in my opinion.”
