Donald Glover has addressed the speculated “beef” between himself and Kid Cudi. The rapper, producer, and actor hopped on Instagram Live on Monday (April 15) to preview new music, and during the stream, a fan asked the 40-year-old to share his thoughts on Cudi. Back in February, Cudi sparked rumors of a feud after shutting down the possibility of working with Glover.

A fan on Twitter told Cudi at the time, “You and Gambino gotta work on something whether it’s TV, movies, or music we’d love to see/hear it!” The Indicud artist replied, “I’m cool.”

Glover saw the person’s comment on his stream last night and took a moment to clarify, saying, “Kid Cudi, if you got a problem, like, I’m not here for the beef. Just like, talk to me.”

Another person that was with him chimed in, “That’s real therapy by the way. Actually talk to people.” The “3005” artist continued, “‘Cause it’s like we don’t have to agree on everything but we also don’t have to be like, ‘When I see you, we have to wanna kill each other… Man, life is too short.”

At the time, many comments pointed to Cudi’s infamous history of having issues with a multitude of artists ranging from Drake and Kanye West to Lupe Fiasco and Wale. Other comments attempted to be more understanding and not read too much into the situation, pointing out that not all artists must collaborate.

Although the two haven’t worked together in recent years, Cudi and Glover have an unreleased track together called “Warlords.” Glover, as Childish Gambino, also opened up for the INSANO musician early in his career.

The Mr. & Mrs. Smith actor opened up about this moment during a 2023 interview with GQ. He told the publication that the crowd booed him as he attempted to get through his show. “At the time, I had a full band and a violinist,” he recalled. “I just kept turning to the band and telling them, ‘Next song! Next song!’ I put on a really intense show through the boos.”
