However, she dealt with some major money troubles in the past. In 2010, she filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, citing $13.5 million in assets and $19.8 million in debts. Throughout her time on RHONY, Sonja often mentioned her money woes, even selling a few of the houses she owned.

"I'm keeping the [New York City] townhouse. I let the Colorado house go and I sold the house in France," Sonja confirmed to E! News in 2015. "I'm looking forward to building up my business of fine jewelry, evening wear, sportswear and swimwear."

At the time, she told the publication that her bankruptcy case had officially come to an end.

"It's over now. It's come to an end. The $9 million-plus is all there. It was $7 million judgment but with the administration fees, it was about another $2 million," the businesswoman explained at the time, noting that she was "out of Chapter 11" before adding that it "feels great" to have the entire situation over with.

"I did a great job. I paid what I had to pay, and it wasn't easy, but at the same time it was an experience," Sonja added. "It's nice to be free of everyone looking at my money. I finally have my financial privacy back."
