Plot details are scarce, but the franchise began as a 2010 ITV series that followed the lives of the Crawley family and their servants in the family's country estate between the period of 1912 and 1928. It began with the 1912 sinking of the Titanic, which claimed the life of the Crawley patriarch's (an Earl) heir and thus followed his search for a new one. It ran for six seasons and spawned two films.
