Dolores O’Riordan’s Open-Casket Memorial Draws Thousands

On January 15, Dolores O’Riordan of the Cranberries died at the age of 46. Yesterday, memorial services began in her hometown of Limerick, Ireland, The Irish Times reports (via NME). Thousands of people attended the public ceremony, which included an open-casket viewing. The Irish Times describes the event as “a tribute normally reserved for Presidents, Popes, and heads of State.” Memorial services resume for four hours today. O’Riordan’s funeral and private burial occur tomorrow. Her cause of death has not yet been announced.
