Rockstar, the star-studded rock’n’roll album by our November cover star, Dolly Parton, has arrived. Stream it below.

Inspired by her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, Rockstar is the 49th full-length release from Parton, and features a variety of new originals and classic rock covers, as well as a heap of guest appearances by artists like Paul McCartney, Elton John, Stevie Nicks, Ringo Starr, Miley Cyrus, Chris Stapleton, Debbie Harry, Nikki Sixx, and many more.

Speaking with Paramore’s Hayley Williams for Consequence’s most recent cover story, Parton explained that when she found out she was voted into the Rock Hall, she “didn’t feel like [she’d] earned it.” To make up for that, she got into the studio and cut a proper rock album, without cutting any corners. “That was important to me: not to half-ass do a record that’s a country girl singing some rock,” Parton told Williams.

Now, Parton’s take on rock has arrived in all of its glory. Filling out the beefy tracklist in addition to the aforementioned artists are legends like: Sting, Steve Perry, Ann Wilson, Howard Leese, John Fogerty, Kid Rock, Steven Tyler, Warren Haynes, Waddy Wachtel, Peter Framptom, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, P!nk, Brandi Carlile, Kevin Cronin, Melissa Etheridge, Lizzo, Sasha Flute, Rob Halford, John 5, Simon Le Bon, Linda Perry, Emmylou Harris, Sheryl Crow, Pat Benatar, Neil Giraldo, Ronnie McDowell, The Jordanaires, Mick Fleetwood, Ronnie Van Zant, Gary Rossington, Artimus Pyle, and Richie Sambora. Check out the full tracklist below.

Ahead of the album’s release, Parton shared several singles, including the new original, “World on Fire,” and several covers, such as: “Magic Man” with Wilson; “We Are the Champions;” “Let It Be” with McCartney, Starr, Framptom, and Fleetwood; “What’s Up?” with Perry; and “Wrecking Ball” with her goddaughter, Cyrus.

Parton also spoke with Kyle Meredith about the new album and her newest book Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones. Listen to that episode below. For more on Parton, you can check out Williams’ letter about the experience of interviewing her, or check out exclusive quotes from Parton’s collaborators, like Le Bon, Benatar, Perry, Harry, and more.

In addition to being available on DSPs, Rockstar is offered on physical formats, including several vinyl options and CD. Orders are ongoing.
