Dolly Parton is bringing "something special" to HSN for her upcoming album!

The legendary musician, 77, is teaming up with the network for a pre-sale of her debut rock album, Rockstar — which officially arrives on Nov. 17. And as she tells PEOPLE all about the collab, she's got some fun merchandise to tie in with the rock aesthetic available ahead of time.

"Of course there's a world of merchandise that we'll have out there for everybody. But anytime we're on the HSN, we want to have something special and do something great," Parton says. "We've had such success with everybody there, so we thought, "Well, why not just promote my rock album, too? We sell everything else."

For the HSN spot, where she'll appear live from Nashville on Friday from 7-8 p.m. PT/10-11 ET,  Parton will be joined by host Michelle Yarn as fans can scoop exclusive cover art of the album — and of course some fun new Dolly merch.

While the HSN CD itself will feature bonus tracks "Momma Never Said," "Hit Me with Your Best Shot," and "Rockin' It," Dolly's merch is also full of additional surprises — from a trucker hat to rockstar-quality t-shirts to even some blankets and pillows with Parton's face printed on them.

"I think I'm known for being a little bit over the top, but then I try in the rock album to be a little bit over the top, kind of pushing it to the limit, but hopefully in good taste as well," Parton tells PEOPLE of how clothing factors into her DNA. "But I'm always just trying to be what feels fun and what feels comfortable for me."

Parton also adds that she felt it was "tongue in cheek" to have a rock album at her age, and that she's grabbed some inspiration from rock acts of the past to piece her visual element together.

"We tried to go back and think about all the great classic things that had been done. You know Kiss was always doing all those bizarre things like the patch over the eye and the star. So I had a butterfly over the eye and a star just tongue in cheek with some of that as well," she added. "But just trying to dress as much a rock star as I can get away with and just having fun with it."

So as Parton rocks some flashy new looks on her multiple album covers — from all leather fits to pink highlights in her hair to a star patch on her eye — the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer reflects on how she's managed to stay true to her self stylistically.

"I was kind of influenced by those early days with women that I would see like the loose women in our town or just people that I'd see in magazines and the Frederick's of Hollywood catalog. I mean, that spoke to me," she says of how she's managed to stay true to herself over the years. "That seemed to be my style that seemed to fit my personality, so I just went for it. I never was one to care as much about what other people thought of me as I felt about what I thought of me because I felt if I was comfortable in whatever I was wearing, then people would be comfortable around me."

"I find that's true with anybody though, don't you? If people seem comfortable, then you like to be around them," Parton adds. "Even though I'm sure people might have been uncomfortable thinking they would be uncomfortable looking like I did, but if I seemed comfortable in it, they were willing to accept it. So I just kind of grew in the business kind of like that, being a little bit over the top about most things."

Rockstar, a 30-song collection which includes 9 original tracks and 21 iconic Rock anthems featuring an iconic roster of musicians from Paul McCartney to Elton John to Miley Cyrus and Ann Wilson, arrives on Nov. 17, over a month after Parton's pre-sale HSN appearance airs Friday.
