At 77 years young, Dolly Parton has earned the highest-charting album of her legendary career with Rockstar. The star-studded rock ‘n’ roll project debuted this week at No. 3.

Though she’s landed on the chart 49 times in the past — the first time being in 1969 — Rockstar marks Parton’s highest-charting album to date. She previously achieved two top 10 albums, with 2014’s Blue Smoke and 1987’s Trio (her collaborative LP with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris) both peaking at No. 6.

Rockstar was inspired by Parton’s 2022 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and dropped on November 17th. With a tracklist of new originals and classic rock covers, the album features appearances by rock icons like Paul McCartney, Elton John, Stevie Nicks, Ringo Starr, Miley Cyrus, Chris Stapleton, Debbie Harry, Nikki Sixx, Sting, Steve Perry, Steven Tyler, and many, many more. According to Billboard, much of Rockstar’s commercial success can be attributed to its physical sales. In addition to being released digitally, the album arrived in a variety of CD and vinyl formats, including special editions for everyone from Walmart to the Dallas Cowboys to the Rock Hall to the University of Tennessee. Orders are ongoing.

On Thanksgiving day, Parton headlined the halftime show of the Washington Commanders and Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving game, performing “Jolene” and “9 to 5,” as well as covers of Queen’s “We Are the Champions” and “We Will Rock You” from Rockstar.
