Dolly Parton and Katy Perry Crush Duet at the ACMAs

Dolly Parton and Katy Perry teamed up for their first-ever live performance together, at the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards, and it was electrifying. The two fierce performers shared both the stage and wardrobe style. The ladies opened with Dolly’s all-time favorite song “Coat of Many Colors,” alternating verses. Perry’s husky voice contrasted with Parton’s trademark mountain soprano, and it was delightful.

Then the singers left us begging for more with the heartbreaking hit “Jolene.” And then the crowd came to their feet for Parton’s iconic hit “Nine to Five.” The gals kept the harmonies light but the energy high throughout the song.

Parton was honored at the awards for her work on the NBC television movie Coat of Many Colors, based on her eponymous song, about her childhood and growing up in East Tennessee.
