Doja Cat’s highly anticipated Scarlet album is set to make landfall next month, and the updates are coming at rapid speed. Most recently, the star made the decision to update the project’s cover art due to striking similarities to another musical act’s album cover.

On Tuesday (Aug. 29), the “Say So” artist revealed the original artwork for her forthcoming project, which showed one large magenta spider in the center against a white background. Fans were quick to point out how the image looked nearly identical to the cover of German band Chaver’s upcoming album.

Both designs were reportedly made by Portland-based artist Dusty Ray, and both LPs are also slated to be released on the same day, Sept. 22. Doja quickly pivoted and deleted the original announcement and informed fans on Thursday (Aug. 31) about the new artwork. “Updated cover,” the 27-year-old wrote in her Instagram caption.

The new album art still features a spider like the original, but the figure now consists of large pearls as its head and abdomen, double the amount of legs, and an overall darker color. Check out the updated Scarlet cover above.

On the music front, the Grammy award-winner has dropped off a handful of singles this year, including “Attention,” “Paint The Town Red,” and the official remix of SZA’s “Kill Bill.” She announced earlier this week that her next Scarlet offering, titled “Demons,” is coming soon.

Doja’s most recent full-length body of work was 2021’s Planet Her, which boasted features from Young Thug, Ariana Grande, JID, The Weeknd, and SZA. The project housed several charting hits like “Kiss Me More,” “Woman,” “You Right,” and “Need To Know.”
