Doja Cat wants no toxicity for Britney Spears.

The "Juicy" rapper recently criticized those who made comparisons between her and Britney after she shaved her hair, referring to the pop star's 2007 buzzed haircut that occurred during a period of personal turmoil.

"It's so incredibly disrespectful for people to be minimizing what Britney went through and make a joke out of something that was very serious and a big deal in her life," Doja Cat told Variety in an interview published Feb. 1. "Every time I see a comment like that, I can't compute what's happening, other than it's just an awful thing."

In 2007, Britney famously shaved her head following a day-long stay in rehab and amid a custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline over their sons—Sean Preston Federline and James Jayden Federline. Nearly a year later, Britney was placed under a conservatorship after being admitted to a hospital, with her father Jamie Spears and Andrew M. Wallet appointed co-conservators of her estate. (The conservatorship was terminated in 2021 after 13 years.)

Britney Spears Through the Years

A decade after the much-publicized moment, a source told E! News in 2017 that Britney opted to cut her hair as "a way for her to try to rid herself of her past."

That's a feeling Doja Cat can likely relate to, as she explained that she buzzed her hair off last August to prioritize her self-care needs.

"When I shaved my eyebrows off and I shaved my head, I remember thinking, ‘Get this s--t off of me,' because I needed to change something," she said. "I wasn't working out and wasn't really taking care of myself in the way that I wanted to. I was like, ‘I need to do something,' so I just chopped it all off."

Now, the "Say So" rapper is embracing—and seeing—more parts of herself than before, including the shape of her head and ears.

"It's the best choice I've ever made," she said, "and I've never felt more beautiful."
