Dog Haus to open first Louisville-area location in 2024, followed by 4 more franchise spots

Dog Haus Biergarten is coming in hot to the Louisville area.

The Pasadena, California-born chain of restaurants serving hot dogs, sausages and burgers will open a location in New Albany by Spring 2024, according to Jon Riddle, owner of the franchise location.

He plans to open four more Dog Haus locations in the area, including another spot in Clark County and three in Jefferson County.

A few years ago, he and his wife, Karen, were “actively looking for a franchise to bring to the Louisville market,” he said.

They came across Dog Haus and the couple made the trip from their home in Floyd Knob, Indiana, to visit the restaurant’s location in Chicago.

“We loved the food,” Riddle said. “They have some of the best hot dogs, sausages and burgers we’ve tried.”

Hot dogs on the menu include options such as the Chili Idol, which features Haus chili, cheddar cheese sauce and onions, the Old Town, which features smoked bacon, caramelized onions, chipotle aioli, pickled jalapenos and cojita cheese and the SoooCali, which features wild arugula, avocado, tomato, crispy onions and spicy basil aioli.

Burgers include the Little Mule, which has white American cheese, avocado, pickled jalapenos, cojita cheese, a fried egg, and chipotle aioli, and the Hangover, which has white American cheese, smoked bacon, Haus chili, a fried egg, and mayo. You can also find a variety of sausages, corn dogs, chicken sandwiches, breakfast burritos, sliders and kid's meals on the menu.

The couple signed a contract in September 2021 and have been searching for the best place to debut Dog Haus.

The building at 415 W. Bank St., the former site of Monnik Beer Co., fit the bill. In addition to a menu of unique toppings and specials, Dog Haus will have 24 beers on tap.

“We’re very excited to bring this brand to town,” Riddle said.
