Watch Out For the Fake Dog
Someone is out there trying to imitate Dog the Bounty Hunter on Facebook, but fans are on to him/her.
People are at least trying to warn others about this scammer, who follows typical scamming behavior.
"I had just blocked and reported the fake account and it showed up the next day they following me again. This has happened quite of few times now," said @JoyMaloJo of the fake account.
People are getting aggravated, and rightly so, because they think the real Dog is following them.
"I was all excited last night because I thought Dog was following me. Then I realized it was a VERY cheap imitation!" said @lindacopley.
Look For the Check Mark
The Twitter page "Official 'Dog' News" also alerted fans about the imposter, and reminded people that only the real Dog the Bounty Hunter has a Twitter check mark.
"Hey all, the real Dog is only at@DogBountyHunter. Notice the verified checkmark. Anyone else contacting you, saying they are a second account etc, are 100 percent scammers."
Email This Guy
That same page posted an earlier message saying that the scammer has been reported, and welcomed people to "email the fake" and maybe chat with him about how his scamming is really ticking people off.
"We found out a scammer on Facebook is using fake ID for@DogBountyHunterHe has been reported, but feel free to email the fake at duaneleechapman1@gmail.com.Dog will never ever contact you directly on Facebook nor ask you for money, gift cards or anything else."
Scammers are everywhere.
"This too has happened to me [through] messenger. Broke my heart, when I found out it was a scammer. I thought it was Dog, I was asking information on how to help my Son. This person is very convincing so be careful," said another.
"Hi dog it all ready happen to me I got a Friends request from you I made me so happy," another fan wrote. "Wow dog on me to be one of his friends on Facebook and Twitter, but it was a hoax and I got screwed" said @DAMANTMP.
He's a Grieving Widow
Dog has been going through a very rough time. His wife, Beth, died June 26 after a long struggle with throat cancer.
He wrote a sweet message when she died:
“It’s 5:32 in Hawaii, this is the time she would wake up to go hike Koko Head mountain. Only today, she hiked the stairway to heaven. We all love you, Beth. See you on the other side."
Dog stayed with her through treatments, surgery and chemo. They were inseparable. It certainly appears the scammer wants to exploit the vulnerability of Dog and his fans for profit.
"Wow that's really messed up. Dog has been through enough this year he doesn't need this BS too," wrote a fan.
