Dog the Bounty Hunter Duane Chapman says late wife's personal items were stolen

Dog the Bounty Hunter wants to bring criminals to justice, and this time, it's personal.

The bounty hunter, whose real name is Duane Chapman, took to Twitter early Friday morning to say his store in Edgewater, Colorado, was burglarized and his late wife's personal items were taken. The store sells apparel and souvenirs featuring the Chapman family. According to a statement given to USA TODAY by the Chapman family, the thieves made off with items that belonged to Chapman's wife Beth, who died after battling stage 4 cancer in June.

"The official Dog and Beth merchandise store was robbed on Thursday," the family's statement read. "Not only did the thieves take thousands of dollars of clothing, these criminals took priceless personal belongings of our beloved Beth, including tributes to her kindly left by our amazing fans. We are working with our friends in law enforcement to find these perpetrators, and are offering a cash reward to anyone who provides information about their identity. To whoever did this, you better watch out. Dog is coming for you."

Chapman also took to Twitter to share his frustrations.

"The Bible says it is an unforgivable sin to steal from the dead LARGE CASH REWARD FOR ANY INFORMATION (FOR) WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS !!!" he wrote, retweeting The Blast's report on the burglary.

The Edgewater Police Department's Public Information Officer Corporal Bob Brink told USA TODAY police are in the beginning stages of their investigation. They cannot confirm yet which items were stolen and do not yet have any information on suspects at this time.

"We are asking anyone with any information, possible cell phone video, or businesses that have cameras that might have captured any activity to call the Edgewater Police Department," Brink said in a press release.
