Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse did the impossible. The multiversal Marvel story was not only a solid sequel, but its blend of animation styles, action, and heartfelt plot (arguably) surpassed the original Into the Spider-Verse hit. There's also a massive cliffhanger, which Netflix viewers will experience for the first time when the streamer hits the platform this Tuesday, October 31. We won't spoil the fun here, but we're excited for a whole universe of Spider-people ready to tell their stories.

Though still focusing on Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), the film also follows the lives of Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld), Miguel O'Hara (Oscar Isaac), Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson), and Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya). It's a lot of story to tell. So, the Spider-Verse creators also took on the concept of the post-credits scene—and did away with it. Are you excited for the next film, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse? Do you have burning questions about how the animated trilogy will wrap up its exciting story? Well, keep that anticipation high.

Unlike most superhero films—and even Big Summer Blockbusters like Fast XSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse does not have a post-credits scene. The movie doesn't even have a mid-credits scene. There's no extra Spider-person to tease, and there's no thought-dead character making a return. Was 1,000 new Spider-people not enough for you?! It's a bold play, and I hope it sticks. I don't want to sit through the credits just for someone to appear and say "Hello, Spider-Man" before I wait another year or two to see them again.

Plus, the wait may be even longer. Beyond the Spider-Verse currently has no release date. The film was taken off the schedule due to production delays resulting from the SAG-AFTRA strike, but it was originally scheduled for a May 2024 release. Now, that date could push very well into 2025. In the meantime, we'll be able to watch Into the Spider-Verse at home.
