Super Bowl Sunday couldn’t have seen a better start, with Reba McEntire kickstarting the NFL championship with a beautiful rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” On Feb. 11, 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs played off against the San Francisco 49ers for Super Bowl LVIII. To kick off the big game, the singer-actress belted out the National Anthem, delivering a heartfelt performance to the viewers (via Billboard).

The Country Music Hall of Fame superstar’s performance is especially significant as she was first discovered singing the same at the 1974 National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma. 2024 marks the 50th year, and Reba McEntire couldn’t “think of a better way to celebrate that anniversary,” as she noted in a statement when it was first announced that she would be headlining the Super Bowl LVIII Pregame (via Billboard).

Reba McEntire brought to tears many with her moving performance, including the Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones (via USA Today). With half a century of experience singing the anthem, the performance was bound to be flawless.

With the country singer making headlines, many are curious about her family, especially her kids.

Reba McEntire has one kid

Reba McEntire has only one child, her son, Shelby Steven McEntire Blackstock. She shares him with her ex-husband, Narvel Blackstock, whom she married in 1989. Their son was born one year later, on Feb. 23, 1990 (via People).

She is a proud mama, and in a 2022 interview, Reba McEntire exclaimed, “I’m very proud of him…He’s always trying to improve and do better” (via People). Shelby is a former NASCAR driver, winning the GT World Challenge America Overall Champion title in 2020.

He has been married to Marissa Branch since 2022 and lives in Nashville with her and their two dogs.
