Does The Mandalorian Give us Clues to Star Wars Episode IX?

Over two weeks ago Disney Plus launched and with it the first ever Star Wars live action television show, "The Mandalorian". The show has been a hit for the streaming service, and one of the few completely positive reviews the service has received. It has already seen an explosion of love on social media and inspired memes galore across the internet. With only two episodes out in the world (the next will premiere this coming Friday) the over analyzing of the "Star Wars" fan base has already begun, and with some very interesting predictions.

The Timeline of the Mandalorian

"The Mandalorian" has a look that harkens back to the classic original trilogy of the "Star Wars" saga. There is a reason for this (aside from nostalgia that is). For those who are unsure, the story of "The Mandalorian" is set a mere five years after the end of "Return of the Jedi," the final film in the original trilogy. So it's only been five years Luke and company blew up the second death star. That places the show directly after the original trilogy, and before our most recent trilogy, with Rey, Poe, and Kylo Ren.

The Surprise Bounty

Who is our titular character hoping to get a bounty on? It turns out, the most well-kept secret in the "Star Wars" universe, is a 50-year-old baby of the same species as the late great Master Yoda. We learn at the end of episode one that this species ages at a very different rate than others. This means, should the Mandalorian (who has yet to be named either) refuse to deliver the alien as requested, it's very possible this "baby Yoda" may still be in the greater story when we reach the premiere of "The Rise of Skywalker" on December 20.

The Force is With Us

If you've seen episode two of "The Mandalorian" you know that this adorable baby is not only adorable, but powerful. Despite his age and size, "baby yoda," as the fandom has dubbed him, has already lifted a giant beast by using the force, and saving the life of his protector. If he is already this powerful (though he needs quite a nap afterward) there's no saying how powerful he may be if he survives another twenty-five years to meet up with Rey and her friends. Palpatine has already been confirmed to appear in the final film, and perhaps, this new (and adorable) fan favorite, may hold a key to how our rebel heroes finally succeed.
