Over her many years of fame, Lady Gaga has spoken about her influences, the people who helped her be the musical creator she has become. Michael Jackson has come from her mouth on several occasions, right along with Queen, David Bowie, Princess Diana, and Madonna.
With the recent release of Leaving Neverland, the controversial documentary digging into Jackson's sexual allegations, we're curious if she's still a fan of his. Ins she a superfan, going with him wherever he goes, or has her opinion wavered?
Gaga's Past Views
In an interview with Larry King, Gaga expresses her care for MJ,
"Michael's death was devastating for me regardless of whether or not I was supposed to go on tour with him. "
Further, "He is such an inspiration and remarkable human being. And I guess I suppose, Larry, some of my fascination with death and the demise of the celebrity goes along with me watching these hugely iconic and amazing people that I have heralded and admired my whole life become destroyed -- whether self-destroyed or destroyed by the media."
In another moment in the interview, she says something slightly reminiscent of the late Jackson,
"I'm more interested in helping my fans to love who they are and helping them to reject prejudice and reject those things that they're taught from society to not like themselves."
Doesn't this seem like something you'd hear from Michael?
When Jackson's sexual allegations were prime on the rise, her feelings stayed strong. She can put social views aside and see creator's creations as separate. Something we all could do a little more. In a 2012 interview with Howard Stern, Gaga notes,
“With Michael, the fact that he’s not here and that his clothes are being sold made me feel really uncomfortable. And it made me feel very upset.”
She then bought 55 pieces of his clothing, promising to take care of each article.
What's Gaga Think After the Release of 'Leaving Neverland'?
With the views of the public on Oprah's feelings on the film, fans of Gaga's are confused and hoping for an answer to their deep, pressing question. Is she still a fan of Jackson's? As a part of 2020 Vision Tour, Gaga has an emotional discussion of tough topics like self-harm, chronic pain, etc..
For now, she's locking up, not saying a word to fans on social media, not going further into detail about her opinion on the matter. Fans of both Michael and Gaga will for now have to wait patiently, she's aware of the thoughts of fans and will speak when she's ready.
