J.Lo's Response

This series is for the new generation. Many of millennials grew up on the biopic and know all about Selena through the movie, but this will be their introduction to Selena and possibly Tejano music. Jennifer Lopez on the Real said she’s thrilled about the series. She said, “Nice! I love that! I was so lucky to play her so early in my career. I was just starting out as an actress, and I was super serious like ‘I had to play this role’ and I had to do a good job. She meant so much to so many people. Just watching how she handled fame, and family, the whole thing and being in the public eye. It was an honor and a privilege, and a blessing to play her at that time in my career.” It seems she’s gotten the approval from the actress who played the iconic figure. The real test will be how the family reacts to the series.

The Quintanilla Family's Response

Selena’s family has always been highly involved in her career to the point where there was contention, but they have rights over her music and legacy. Apparently, they’ve been highly involved in this series too. They are producing and executing producing too. This is huge. They are going to be very hands on and make sure the movie will be depicted as accurately as possible. Selena’s sister Suzette Quintanilla said, “With this series, viewers will finally get the full history of Selena, our family, and the impact she has had on all of our lives. We are excited to partner with Campanario and Netflix to give fans a never-before-seen glimpse at our story”. Sounds like we are getting more information about Selena.
