Tyler Glasnow and Meghan Murphy's love story is one for the ages.

During the broadcast of the Dodgers' game on Friday, May 10, announcer Joe Davis revealed the sweet, yet surprising, way that the 30-year-old pitcher met Murphy while he was playing for the Tampa Bay Rays.

According to Davis, Glasnow was pitching for Tampa Bay when he spotted Murphy in the stands during a game in 2021.

“At the ballpark, when he was pitching for the Rays, he said he noticed her off in the distance and said, ‘She looks cute,’ So he had the team photographer zoom in on her,” Davis explained.

"So he gets a ball and writes his phone number on it, throws it up to her, and said, 'Text me.' She comes to the next game, throws him a ball back with her number, and says, 'No, you text me,' and so he did and the rest is history," Davis shared.

Before concluding his story, Davis said that Glasnow told his girlfriend that it was "the first time that he's ever thrown a girl a ball with his number on it," and jokingly added, "He said she doesn’t believe him."

The Dodgers fell to the San Diego Padres 2-1 during Friday's game, but the sweet story of Glasnow's relationship quickly earned attention from baseball fans on social media.

One user joked, "Dudes are going to be showing up to the bar with a bucket full of balls w their number on them."

Glasnow previously spoke about meeting Murphy during an interview with the Los Angeles Times. “I saw a girl who was kind of cute, so I had our team photographer zoom in on her — this just sounds very weird — but she was wholesome, with a girl-next-door look,” Glasnow explained of Murphy.

He recalled, “So I wrote my phone number on a ball, threw it to her and told her to text me. She came to the next game, threw me a ball with her number and told me to text her."

Glasnow said he "didn't think anything would come of" the chance interaction until they met up later. "But then I met her, and she was awesome," the pitcher shared.

Of Murphy, Glasnow said, "She has a really good personality, loves to travel and is really fun, so it’s super easy."

Before he was traded to the Dodgers in December, Glasnow played five seasons with the Rays. He was drafted into the MLB by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2016.
