Before several Los Angeles Dodgers players went to the rodeo on Friday, they decided to bring the rodeo into the clubhouse. The result was an epic cowboy-themed fashion contest that also served as an initiation of sorts for the team’s rookies.

According to Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times, veterans Justin Turner and Matt Kemp were behind the fashion show. They went out and purchased all of the cowboy outfits that were worn. Apparently it was up to the rookies themselves to put together the best possible ensemble, and it was quite a sight to see.

We weren’t prepared for the stick horses. Whoever came up with that touch is the real winner here.

The winner, as chosen by the Dodgers players, was Cuban born outfielder Yusniel Diaz. Though as we see here, D.J. Peters gave him a real run for his money.

We’ve seen a lot of themed costume activities over the years. Some have pushed the boundaries of what’s acceptable and forced MLB to change the rules in regards to what players can reasonably wear.

The Dodgers cowboy-themed fashion showed that no such boundaries need to be pushed. It was simple and spectacular.
