Dodgers player criticizes President Donald Trump for actions in Puerto Rico

Los Angeles Dodgers utility man Enrique Hernández is one of the many Puerto Rican players doing his part to try and help the island rebuild after being devastated by hurricanes. Hernández set up a You Caring page, where he’s helped raise nearly $70,000 to support those affected by Hurricane Maria.

President Donald Trump made his long-awaited visit to the island for the first time since the hurricane Tuesday, and Hernández wasn’t a fan of the way Trump conducted himself while trying to help the grieving nation. Warning: There’s some NSFW language below.

The video Hernández responded to in his tweet shows Trump shooting paper towels to a crowd of Puerto Rican citizens as if they were basketballs.

As Hernández notes, he tries to avoid talking about politics on his Twitter page. That video of Trump was too much for him to ignore.

Hernández is far from the only Major League Baseball player to help raise funds and supplies for Puerto Rico. Houston Astros designated hitter Carlos Beltran donated $1 million to relief efforts. St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina’s wife set up a Go Fund Me account and Minnesota Twins pitcher Hector Santiago gathered supplies to send back to the island.

On Monday, Astros chairman Jim Crane sent two planes to Puerto Rico. One to deliver supplies, and the other to pick up patients and family members.

Hernández, Beltran, Molina and Santiago all represented Puerto Rico in the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
