“Doctor Who” producer Bad Wolf has tapped Emma Obank for the newly created role of creative and commercial affairs executive.

In the role, Obank, who joins from U.K. agency Casarotto Ramsay & Associates, will work closely with Bad Wolf CEO Jane Tranter and director of content Dan McCulloch. She will be responsible for nurturing new writers and directors with an eye to developing returning original series and ambitiously expanding Bad Wolf’s slate, pushing projects from development to greenlight.

Obank will work across Bad Wolf’s teams in Wales, London and L.A. as well as support Screen Alliance Wales’s new voices schemes. Bad Wolf is known for some of the U.K.’s most recognisable shows including “His Dark Materials,” “A Discovery of Witches” and the latest reincarnation of “Doctor Who.”

At Casarotto Ramsay Obank repped some of the U.K.’s most promising new voices and launched a program for underrepresented writer and directors to gain access to agents and creatives and learn more about the industry. Obank herself has benefited from mentorship via the Women in Film & TV’s mentorship scheme and has since spoken at an array of industry events and bodies, including BAFTA, the BFI and Directors U.K.

“We’re excited and here for what Emma will bring to the producing world,” said Tranter and McCulloch. “As an agent Emma was well known for her drive, creativity and championing of new voices. Bad Wolf’s m/o is to surprise and innovate, Emma’s decision move from agenting into producing is a bold and brave one. The next generation of TV drama can only truly come from risk takers, we’re here to support that in every way we can.”

Obank added: “I’m thrilled to be joining Bad Wolf, a company I have long admired and been inspired by because of its ambitious programming and determination to bring epic stories to our screens. It’s been a privilege to represent and nurture an incredible roster of writers and directors at Casarotto. In my new role, I’m excited to develop pioneering new series alongside some of Britain’s most talented creatives and Bad Wolf’s dynamic team.”
