DMX sentenced to 6 months in jail
DMX was sentenced to six months in jail on Tuesday night in Buffalo, New York, for failing to pay child support. He was arrested last month right before a scheduled performance at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall. According to the Erie County Sheriff’s office, DMX — whose given name is Earl Simmons — was placed in custody on Tuesday.
At the time of his arrest on June 26, DMX hadn’t paid $400,000 worth of child support, the New York City Sheriff Department told WPIX-TV. He was also served warrants from the city of White Plains, New York for bail jumping and a robbery complaint from Newark, New Jersey. The Newark-based charges were dropped.
Shaggy confirmed the news on Twitter, noting that DMX would not be able to perform at Shaggfest.
