'Shoot them all at the border': DMV employee under investigation for sharing opinions on immigrants
You would think people would have learned by now that if you post violent or racist things on your social media accounts, there will be consequences.
Especially if you’re a public servant.
According to CBS News, a DMV worker in Oregon named Lori McAllen posted a now-deleted comment on Facebook offering her views towards immigrants crossing the United States border
McAllen’s “About me” reads: “I don’t have room in my heart for drama, disrespect or hate.” One assumes that goes only for American citizens, judging by the comment she posted.
@OregonDOT so Lori McAllen is saying those at the border should be gunned down…and you're okay with that? pic.twitter.com/2pAqHnzCFm

As evidenced by the screenshot, which was sent to the Oregon Department of Transportation, McAllen wrote: “I personally think they should shoot them all at the border and call it good… it’ll save us hard working AMERICAN’S billions of dollars on our taxes!!”
According to Dave Thompson, a spokesman for Oregon DOT, “We received thousands of posts online and probably more than 100 phone calls.”
Human resources at DOT is still conducting their investigation of McAllen, and they are trying to confirm that it was McAllen that did in fact create the post.
Thompson said, “HR is talking to her to determine if that was really her who wrote it. When I looked for [her Facebook page] at about 7:30 yesterday morning, it was already gone. I don’t know if she took it down, or somebody else did, but it’s gone.”
We're aware of a post that has been rapidly circulating through social channels espousing views offensive & abhorrent to the values of our agency. There is an active investigation into the matter. Thank you to those who have shared your concerns and we take this matter seriously

The Oregon DOT Twitter account called the comment “offensive & abhorrent,” and Thompson doubled down on that statement.
“We are offended and hurt by such a post — no matter who made it — that does not reflect the values of the people who work here,” Thompson said.
McAllen has worked as a DMV clerk for 10 months. She is currently on leave while the investigation continues.
