Local stars are taking to Cheney Stadium on Saturday for the inaugural Seattle All-Star Classic, a celebrity home run derby and softball game that donates a portion of proceeds to local nonprofits.

Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf will play host, and the festivities, presented by Push for Dreams, kick off at noon.

Alongside Metcalf are former Seahawk defenders Lofa Tatupu, Jordan Babineaux and ‘Legion of Boom’ member Kam Chancellor. Current Miami Dolphins running backs Miles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed, who formed a rushing tandem at the University of Washington from 2017-18, are penciled into Saturday’s lineups.

Budda Baker, famously chased down by Metcalf on a Russell Wilson interception return in Oct. 2020, will participate. A Bellevue native, Baker earned NFL First-Team All-Pro honors at safety for the Arizona Cardinals in 2017 and 2020.

“I was running, and next thing you know, I see big 14 coming after me,” Baker told reporters after the game two seasons ago. “He got me. That’s the first time I’ve ever been hawked in my entire life.”

Other celebrities to unite at Cheney Stadium include:

  • Spencer Hawes, 11-year NBA veteran

  • CJ Elleby, Portland Trail Blazers G and Washington State alum

  • Lil Mosey, Seattle rapper

  • Hill Harper, actor on ABC’s The Good Doctor

  • Demetrious Johnson, mixed martial artist

All ages are permitted, as Cheney Stadium’s family pavilion and wiffle ball park will remain open. Party decks in left field boast a beer and wine garden.

The softball game follows a home run derby, running from 12-3 p.m. The event will donate a portion of proceeds to “several local-non profit organizations,” including the Sincerely Royal Foundation, a local organization that supports at-risk, single-parent households and student-athletes in need, a press release said.

Drew Dambreville helped found the event, now working with professional athletes and small businesses for over 20 years.

“The Seattle All Star Classic’s objective is to provide Seattle and the surrounding areas with one-of-a-kind fan-driven experiences that generates awareness for non-profits,” he said in the release, “while also allowing our sponsors, partners and community to interact and grow together.”

Tickets start at $25 in the right field lawn and left field decks and stretch to $125 for seats in Cheney Stadium’s Dugout Club.
