DJ Khaled has confirmed a story told by Tony Yayo on a July episode of Drink Champs where the Miami producer refused to shake his hand due to G-Unit and Fat Joe feuding at the time.

“At that time, I work at a radio station,” Khaled described on Club Shay Shay of the 2005 occurrence. “Everybody’s welcome at a radio station so you could never involve them type of situations and I understood that. And I’ve always been somebody that showed love, but when they told me [Yayo] was coming up I was like, ‘Wow.’”

The “God Did” artist went on to explain that his loyalty to the “Lean Back” rapper wouldn’t allow for him to fully embrace a member of an opposing crew.

“You know, him and my man don’t get along,” Khaled continued. “[Fat Joe] is my brother, for real. I was just saying to myself, ‘This is gonna be hard for me’ because if I would have completely embraced him, I probably wouldn’t have been able to sleep at night. And if I did, I would have called [Fat Joe] immediately like, ‘This is what happened.’ That’s how much I care.”

When asked if he would’ve behaved differently today, Khaled says he wouldn’t have, but he’d likely look to avoid the interaction altogether.

According to Yayo, he went to Khaled’s station to promote his song “So Seductive” at the suggestion of his handlers, even after telling them he knew Khaled wouldn’t be receptive.

“So we go up there. I told these ni**as, ‘Yo, don’t take me to DJ Khaled. Fat Joe, that’s his man. He damn near Terror Squad.’” he explained. When he arrived, he claims the Miami resident pretended to shake his hand before telling him, “f**k outta here.”

G-Unit head honcho 50 Cent opened up to Rolling Stone back in February about dragging Fat Joe into his ongoing beef with Ja Rule and Murder Inc., admitting that he was “buggin'” for doing so.

“If anybody went next to Ja Rule, I’d jump on the person who featured with them, anybody who was faintly near them, ’cause I put him on life support and you wanna go resuscitate him,” the TV exec explained. “So that energy, later you look at it and you go, ‘I was buggin’.’ ‘Cause I’ll say that. Fat Joe, his issues, I would see him a little uncomfortable with the success I was having, and I interpreted as, ‘He doesn’t like me,’ when he’s really the kind of guy you want to be friends with because he’s loyal to a default. He’s so loyal for one record that [Murder Inc] did with him [‘What’s Luv’] that we became enemies.”
