On Friday (May 13), DJ Cassidy and his famous friends made their way to the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. to reimagine his popular series on stage. “Pass The Mic Live!” saw a star-studded line up bringing down the house including  \Ashanti, Fabolous, Ja Rule, Lil Kim, Ma$e, Ne-Yo, Robin Thicke, 112, Force MDs, and more.

The first-of-its-kind concert, presented by Martell Cognac and Black Promoter’s Collective, was launched as a one-night-only style concert which will continue at Radio City Music Hall on July 21. The second installment will celebrate Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary with Big Daddy Kane, Doug E. Fresh, Rakim, Slick Rick, Grandmaster Melle Mel & Scorpio, Kid ‘N Play, Kurtis Blow, Monie Love, Roxanne Shante, and many more.

DJ Cassidy — who’s “passed the mic” to 220 legends and counting — transformed how people experienced the COVID-19 pandemic musically by celebrating and uniting musical pioneers and their most beloved hits. The series went from a viral moment to being a regularly scheduled program on BET.

Over Mother’s Day weekend, fans got to witness the magic in-person as their favorite artists hit the stage and sang/rapped their timeless hits. Take a look at some of the moments from “Pass The Mic Live!” in New Jersey in the photos below.
