Divorce Adds Steven Pasquale as Season 2 Love Interest for SJP

Sarah Jessica Parker’s Divorce character is about to dip her toe into the dating pool.

Rescue Me veteran Steven Pasquale is joining the HBO comedy for Season 2 in a recurring role, according to our sister site Deadline. He’ll play Andrew, a friend of Nick (Tracy Letts) who gets set up on a date with Frances (Sarah Jessica Parker). The two hit it off and embark on a “casual relationship.”

Which makes sense: Season 1 ended with Frances’ bitter divorce from Robert (Thomas Haden Church) far from finalized, so she’s probably not eager to rush into another romantic commitment. HBO picked up the half-hour comedy for a second season in November, but no premiere date has been set.

Pasquale co-starred as firefighter/EMT Sean Garrity on FX’s Rescue Me for all seven seasons, wrapping up in 2011. And he’s a familiar face across the TV dial: He played Alicia’s campaign manager Johnny Elfman on CBS’ The Good Wife and starred in NBC’s DOA medical drama Do No Harm. Recently, he played disgraced cop Mark Fuhrman in FX’s The People v. O.J. Simpson and co-starred with Katherine Heigl in CBS’ legal drama Doubt.
