The Division breaks Ubisoft sales record

Ubisoft’s newest franchise The Division has been out less than a week and it’s off to a strong start that should bode well for the latest Tom Clancy title’s future.

The publisher announced Wednesday that The Division sold more in its first day on sale than any other title has in the entire company’s history. Ubisoft is the company behind Assassin’s Creed, which is taking 2016 off with no major release planned this fall, Rayman, and Far Cry.

Ubisoft did not provide exact sales numbers, but also revealed that the game’s sales across all platforms in the first 24 hours beat the single day digital sales for all other games from the company.

The Division places players in a detailed recreation of midtown Manhattan as members of the titular agency called upon to help save those still alive in the city in the wake of a pandemic. Players can battle through the streets alone or in groups, completing missions, saving hostages, and building out their Division member as they progress.

The Division is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC, with more content announced for the game’s first year of release.
