Divers Amazed by False Killer Whale 'Dancing' in Front of Them

A group diving off the Catalina Islands in Costa Rica was left in awe recently as a false killer whale approached them and danced for the camera.

Niels Prinssen of Rich Coast Diving Costa Rica said that he and his group started to hear squeaking sounds as soon as they jumped in the water, with the noise rapidly intensifying.

“Suddenly two massive shadows came right at us and one just stopped right in front of the group,” he said.

Prinssen told Storyful that he felt lucky to get a recording of what happened next.

One of the whales started “dancing and twirling … and blowing bubbles,” he said, giving the divers the show of a lifetime.

“False killer whales are known to be social and playful creature and we can only guess what it was trying to communicate us,” Prinssen said. Credit: Rich Coast Diving Costa Rica via Storyful
