Dive deeper into the irreverent world of “Harley Quinn” with upcoming Kite Man spinoff
Harley Quinn season 4 aired its finale on Thursday, but anyone who's left thirsting for more of the animated show's bloody, irreverent take on the DC superhero universe is in luck. A new spinoff is coming next year, focused on lovable loser Kite Man (Matt Oberg).

The new trailer for Kite Man: Hell Yeah! starts with the titular character reminiscing about his childhood dreams of becoming a supervillain... before veering off into an uncomfortable tangent about his mom catching him masturbating. "Stop telling that nasty-ass story," intervenes the Queen of Fables (Wanda Sykes), who has apparently become trapped in a glass bottle since the last time we saw her.
Even by Harley Quinn standards, the trailer for Kite Man: Hell Yeah! is pretty gnarly. And since Kite Man is lacking in a wealth of superpowers, much of the destruction stems from his girlfriend, Golden Glider (Cathy Ang), who decapitates and explodes people while soaring through the air. We also get a cameo from Harley (Kaley Cuoco) herself, and if there's one thing we've learned over four seasons, it's that she can't help but bring death with her anywhere she goes.
But lest you think that Kite Man: Hell Yeah! will have little impact on DC canon given its nature as a spinoff, the trailer ends with none other than big bad Darkseid (Michael Ironside) declaring "all-out war" as a horde of Parademons lift off around him. That can't be good.
Originally created by Bill Finger and Dick Sprang in 1960, Kite Man achieved new relevance thanks to comic writer Tom King's celebrated run on Batman from 2016-2019. Although it hasn't come up in Harley Quinn, the character's real name is Chuck Brown, and King seized on the Peanuts connection to portray him as a tragicomic everyman. He also started the "Kite Man, hell yeah!" catchphrase, which the Harley Quinn team has embraced.
