  • A Disneyland guest shared a video on Reddit of mysterious floating objects they spotted in the sky above the park

  • The park goer was waiting to board the Rise of the Resistance ride at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when they noticed the strange circular shapes

  • Some Reddit users were confused as what the objects were, while others quickly explained that they were likely smoke rings from the park’s World of Color – One show

A Disneyland park guest thought they spotted a visitor from a galaxy far, far away!

After visiting the park's Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land in February, the visitor took to Reddit to share a video of two mysterious floating objects they spotted in the sky just before boarding the Rise of the Resistance attraction.

In the clip shared to the Disneyland subreddit, the user pans over two circular shapes floating in the gray sky above. Shooting sound effects and Star Wars theme music can be heard in the background as they make their way into the entrance of the ride.

“Spotted tonight as we were boarding,” a user who goes by MonocularVision wrote below the clip. “The new alien ships added to [Rise of the Resistance] are pretty cool," they joked of the unidentified objects proximity to the space-themed land.

As no further context was provided by the original poster (OP), some Disneyland goers expressed their confusion in the comments, while others quickly came up with an explanation for the mysterious occurrence.

“Are you sure those are new ships? They look like the weather balloons the fire Marshall releases before the firework show to make sure it’s ok to go on,” one user wrote.

“Smoke rings from pyrotechnics at World of Color,” another corrected, referring to the Anaheim, Calif. park’s nighttime spectacular, World of Color – One.

A second person confirmed, “These are the rings from the WOC-one performance from the fire parts of the show, I was at the WOC show tonight and saw both these rings.”

Disneyland's World of Color - One attraction.

World of Color – One incorporates fire, water, fog and laser effects “set to a soaring soundtrack” throughout a 22-minute long show, according to Disneyland’s official website. Some of the colorful effects shoot high in the sky which explains the Reddit user being able to spot the smoke rings all the way from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

The Star Wars-themed land first made its debut at Disneyland in May 2019. The Walt Disney World version opened later that year in August. Rise of the Resistance opened in Jan. 2020 at the Southern California park just a month after Disney World’s opening of the same ride on Dec. 5, 2019 in honor of Walt Disney’s birthday.
