Disney Signs on as Women in Animation’s First Official Corporate Sponsor

Walt Disney Animation Studios has come on board as the first corporate sponsor for Women in Animation.

“While Disney Animation has long supported WIA, reaching back to when the organization was founded in the early ’90s, the studio’s generous contributions since the relaunch of WIA back in 2013 — including staff support, programming and other resources — has been especially beneficial,” says Marge Dean, co-president of WIA.

The sponsorship will help the organization host monthly events, expand its mentorship program and help with the development of its legacy and archive program. Disney’s support will also help the organization continue to raise awareness about its 50-50 by 2025 initiative, which aims to see half of all creative jobs in animation held by women within the next decade.

“We are proud to support Women in Animation and their 50-50 by 2025 initiative, through our corporate sponsorship and our ongoing partnership,” said Walt Disney Animation Studios’ senior VP of production Ann Le Cam. “At Disney Animation, we deeply value the diversity and inclusiveness within our studio and appreciate WIA’s efforts in meeting these goals across the animation community.”

WIA is working to gain more corporate support, talking to other studios about sponsorships.

“The more we align with studios at the top level, the more the industry will naturally align with our 50-50 goal,” says Dean.
