SeaWorld and Walt Disney World will reopen in Orlando, Florida, in June and July after months of inactivity because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to plans a city task force approved Wednesday.
Mrious: Let's check the math • 2.1 million Black military veterans nationwide • 30.2% of active-duty enlisted women in 2016 were African-American • 17.1% of active-duty enlisted men in 2016 were African-American • 20,000+: Black Marine Corps recruits received training at Montford Point camp in North Carolina during World War II • 21 African-Americans received the Medal of Honor for actions during the Vietnam War • 7,243 Deaths of active-duty black servicemembers in Vietnam • 3,075 Deaths of active-duty black servicemembers in the Korean War • 901,896 African-Americans served during World War II • 24% of the 500,000 U.S. military personnel deployed to the Middle East during the Persian Gulf War were African-American • 350,000+ Blacks served in American Expeditionary Forces units on the Western Front in WWI (Source: American Legion Feb 2, 2020) • 1 Commander in Chief who received five deferrals (4 – education, 1 – bone spurs) from serving in Vietnam, disparaged gold star families, disparaged a decorated war hero because he was a POW, pardoned a convicted war criminal, diverted military funds to build a public relations exercise of a wall on our southern border and finally ordered the deployment of active armed service members into Washington DC in response to protests (potentially pitting the military against America citizens exercising their constitutional rights). While I could probably continue to list actions that run counter to the proud tradition and shared values of our military, that seems to be enough to tell the story. The math seems clear as to who is slandering our veterans, particularly as our nation deals with the true and deep schisms that have only been exacerbated in the past 3½ years. These problems existed before and need addressing now – this is not the way to do that.
