Disney’s Latino Alexander Remake Gets New Synopsis, Production Details

Last year, it was announced that Eva Longoria and George Lopez would star in a Latino-centric adaptation of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. A recent report from The DisInsider now notes what the synopsis for the film will be.

The DisInsider’s report mentions that production on the project is expected to begin next month in New Mexico. Although no further casting information is available, The DisInsider also revealed the synopsis of the film, which will focus on 11-year-old Alexander Garcia and his family, which includes his dad, mom, grandma, and two siblings.

“11-year-old Alexander Garcia thinks he has the worst luck in the world, and when his family–dad Henry, mom Val, grandma Lidia and siblings Mia and David–head out for a road trip to the desert parks of California, he’s pretty sure that, statistically speaking, disaster waits around every corner,” reads the synopsis for the film. “His feeling is only exacerbated when he learns to his shock that his great-grandfather, Alejandro Garcia, whom he was named after, was cursed, and burned down the very town of which he was the mayor, But though many of Alexander’s worst fears–and some he couldn’t even have imagined–come true on this trip, the Garcia family also learns valuable lessons about resilience, heritage and the simple joys of nature and family–which makes Alexander understand that maybe he’s not so cursed after all…”

The report also mentions that Alexander’s younger sibling David is described as a “smart, fearless, fun, and engaging” 4-year-old, and the youngest of the Garcia family.

The latest take on the 1972 Judith Viorst children’s book will be directed by Marvin Lemus (Gentefield) and will be released on Disney+ in the future.
