Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ streaming prices and bundles will cost more soon. What to know

The latest price increase for consumers: streaming platforms.

Disney announced a slate of new streaming pricing plans and bundles for Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ in an Aug. 10 news release. The new options will give “viewers ultimate flexibility in choosing an option that suits their needs,” according to the company.

Disney+ raises prices

Starting Dec. 8, Disney+ will offer two tiers of membership: a basic, ad-supported option and a premium, ad-free option. The basic plan will cost viewers $7.99 monthly while the premium plan will cost $10.99 per month or $109.99 annually.

Disney+ currently offers only one ad-free plan for $7.99 per month or $79.99 annually, according to its website.

The platform will also introduce a variety of new bundle options with Hulu and ESPN+ in December, the release says.

Customers can choose between four bundle plans:

  • Basic with ads: includes Disney+ and Hulu for $9.99 per month.

  • Basic with ads: includes Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ for $12.99 per month.

  • Legacy: includes Disney+ with no ads, Hulu with ads and ESPN+ with ads for $14.99 per month. This option is available only to existing subscribers.

  • Premium: includes Disney+ with no ads, Hulu with no ads and ESPN+ with ads for $19.99 per month.

Currently, the streaming service only offers one bundle, ‘The Disney Bundle,” which includes ad-free Disney+, Hulu with or without ads and ESPN+. If subscribers opt for ad-free Hulu, the bundle is $19.99 per month while ad-supported Hulu bumps the plan down to $13.99 each month.

Hulu and ESPN+ price increases

Disney previously announced new Hulu and ESPN+ plans and pricing that will be introduced in the coming months.

As of Aug. 23, Hulu users will choose between an ad-supported basic plan for $7.99 per month or $79.99 annually and an ad-free plan for $14.99 per month.

Currently, an ad-supported Hulu subscription is $6.99 monthly while an ad-free subscription is $12.99 per month.

Starting Oct. 10, ESPN+ with ads will cost $9.99 per month or $99.99 annually. That’s a bump from the plan’s current $6.99 monthly fee or $69.99 annual cost.

Subscribers will also gain access to more Hulu + Live TV plans starting in December. The new plans include:

  • Basic, with ads: includes Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ for $69.99 per month.

  • Legacy: includes ad-free Disney+, Hulu with ads and ESPN+ with ads for $74.99 per month. This plan is only available to existing subscribers.

  • Premium: ad-free Disney+, ad-free Hulu and ESPN+ with ads for $82.99 per month.

Hulu users currently have the option for a Hulu + Live TV plan that includes Disney+, without ads, and ESPN+ for $69.99 monthly.

Streaming giants get pricier

Other streaming platforms have already announced price hikes and ad-supported plans this year.

Netflix announced in January that it would be hiking its subscription prices, according to The Verge. The platform is also planning to launch its own ad-supported plans. In a July news release, Netflix said it was partnering with Microsoft to develop the new plan.

In February, Amazon announced that it would be raising its monthly price for Amazon Prime subscriptions, which include access to Amazon Prime Video, the company’s streaming platform.
