Discovery Channel is making it a very, "BEAR-Y CHRISTMAS" as they run an epic "Man Vs. Bear" marathon over the holiday across their different channels. The "MVB" extravaganza begins Saturday, December 21 on Discovery between 9 AM - 12 PM.
It then picks back up on December 23 on Animal Planet from 2 PM - 4 PM before appearing Christmas Day for an all-day marathon back on Discovery.
After Christmas, Science Channel will run the marathon on December 28 from 9 AM - 12 PM and then on January 3 from 11 AM to 2 PM.
According to Discovery:
"Watch as Bart, Honey Bump and Tank take on three human competitors at their Utah sanctuary to test the limits of strength, speed and stamina. All challenges will be based on the bears’ natural instincts as well as predatory skills and actions – whether it’s engaging in a monumental game of “tug of war” or using brute force to roll giant logs. Feeling guilty about eating all those cutout cookies? Watch as Tank takes on the humans in an eating challenge, showing they are no match against his voracious appetite."
All 3 of the bears are owned by Doug and Lynne Seus of Wasatch Rock Mountain Wildlife in Herber City, Utah.
Bart was orphaned at 5 months old in the Alaskan wild when a poacher shot his mother. He was rescued by wildlife officials after a three-day search. The 19-year-old star was named Bart after the famous Bart the Bear, who was also owned by the Seus.'
Honey Bump is also 19 years old and is the sister of Bart. She was rescued after their mother was shot by a poacher. The Seus' named her Honey Bump because she apparently ran everywhere and bumped into just about everything.
The eldest bear on the mountain is Tank, a 24-year-old Grizzly who stands 7 ft tall and weighs over 850 lbs. He was adopted at six weeks old by a breeder from Wisconsin.
Tank's hobbies include "bird watching, yoga, and laying in dandelions." His specialty is eating mass quantities of food, and he can consume up to 30 lbs per day!
You better bring in some extra food if you plan on having Tank at your holiday feast!
