Direct flights from Medford to Reno now available
Nov. 1—A new airline has arrived at the Medford Airport, and is now offering layover-free flights to and from Reno, Nevada three times a week.
Aha airlines took off from the Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport for the first time Sunday, Oct. 31, and offers midday flights to Lake Tahoe, California and "The Biggest Little City in the World" at 11:55 a.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, according to a release from the airline and available flights on the airline's booking website.
The Nevada-based airline — which describes itself as a "reboot" of the regional jet airline ExpressJet — now uses Reno-Tahoe International Airport as a hub. By the middle of November, the airline will serve smaller Oregon airports in Bend and Eugene, the Tri-Cities Airport in Pasco, Washington, and California destinations including Bakersfield, Eureka, Fresno and Ontairo.
The Medford airport will celebrate the new Nevada-based airline's arrival with a water arch ceremony scheduled for 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, according to a release from the Rogue Valley airport that quoted airport director Jerry Brienza.
"Reno/Tahoe has been a favorite destination for many who live in Southern Oregon and Northern California, and now the Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport can get them there faster, so the vacation may start sooner," Brienza said.
The event will include giveaways of swag from Reno/Tahoe and Travel Medford, and inaugural presentations from the head of ExpressJet's Aha business unit Tim Sieber, Jackson County Commissioner Rick Dyer, Chamber of Medford and Jackson County CEO Eli Matthews and Travel Medford Senior Vice President T.J. Holmes.
