Dinosaur Jr. postpones show at Stone Pony in Asbury Park hours before show due to COVID

Dinosaur Jr., a founding band of the '80s American alt-rock scene, postponed its Wednesday, Sept. 13 concert at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park hours before showtime due to COVID-19.

The band has also postponed upcoming shows Providence, RI.; Burlington, VT. and Portland, ME.

"Unfortunately, Covid strikes again and we have no choice but to postpone the next 4 shows," said the band in its social media Wednesday afternoon. "Tonight’s show at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park will now take place on Wednesday, January 24th, 2024. All tickets will be honored for the new date or you can seek a refund at point of purchase. Please excuse any inconvenience."

Dinosaur Jr. has postponed multiple dates over the last three years due to the COVID. There have been 2,335 confirmed cases in New Jersey in the last week, according to the New Jersey Department of Health. COVID-19 cases across the country are up, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, but hospitalizations remain low according to the CDC and aren't as high as past years at this time.

Up next at the Pony is the sold-out Oteil and Friends show, part of the Sea Hear Now festival weekend, which takes over the North Beach and Bradley Park in the city this weekend. The Foo Fighters and the Killers are headlining.
