From dine-in to carryout: South Bend area restaurants that are open on Thanksgiving

Not wanting to cook for Thanksgiving dinner next Thursday or simply wanting a bit of help?

Here’s a list of area restaurant dine-in and carryout options for the holiday.

Some things to keep in mind regarding this list: Reservations are almost always appreciated, and it never hurts to call ahead to confirm the information listed.

This is not necessarily a comprehensive list, so if there is a restaurant open or offering carryout options that you think should be added, please let me know.

  • The Barns at Nappanee (formerly Amish Acres): 600 W. Market St., Nappanee. Open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thanksgiving buffet — $28.95 for adults, $16.95 for children 12 and under. No reservations.

  • Carriage House Dining Room and Gardens: 24460 Adams Rd., South Bend. Carryout Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, four sides, a roll and pie — $40 per person. Order by 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22; pickup is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24. Call 574-272-9220 to order.

  • Chicory: 114 W. First St., Mishawaka, 574-204-2025; 105 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, 574-234-1141; Taphouse on the Edge, 1803 South Bend Ave., South Bend, 574-247-9293. Take-home New Orleans Cajun-style or rotisserie-style turkey with ham or Polish sausage dinner that includes four sides, a roll and pumpkin pie. Extra sides available for additional price. Feeds 5 guests for $85. Order by Friday, Nov. 19 and pick up Wednesday, Nov. 24 at order location.

  • Cracker Barrel: 110 North Pointe Blvd., Elkhart. Open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Carryout Heat ‘n Serve meal with turkey breast with 5 sides and a roll. Meal that feeds up to 6 guests for $89.99, larger meal that feeds up to 10 and includes dessert is $139.99. Available for pickup Nov. 20 through Nov. 27, while supplies last. 24-hour notice required for orders. Individual carryout meals also available with traditional turkey dinner for $12.99, chicken ‘n’ dumplings for $7.99 and country vegetable plate for $7.99.   • Das Dutchman Essenhaus: 240 U.S. 20, Middlebury. Take-home Thanksgiving meals are available for preorder. Dinner for five is $79.99, for 10 is $149.99 and for 20 is $279.99. Order by Monday, Nov. 22, pickup between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24. Order online at essenhaus.com or by calling 800-455-9471.

  • Kankakee Grille: 3000 Prairie Ave., South Bend. Open 5 to 9 p.m. Three-course Thanksgiving meal — $32 a person. Reservations can be made at 866-494-6371.

  • Kitchenette: 2221 S. Michigan St., South Bend. Open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Breakfast available all day and traditional Thanksgiving dinner will be served beginning at 9 a.m. until supplies gone. Includes choice of turkey or ham with five sides, roll and dessert — $12.95 for adults, $6.95 for kids aged 10 and younger. Cash only. Available for carryout, call 574-289-1513.

  • The Lauber: 504 E. LaSalle Ave., South Bend. 12-pound smoked turkeys for $45. Preorder by Friday, Nov. 19 by calling 574-234-2342 or email support@thelauber.com.

  • Metro Diner: 423 E. University Dr., Granger. Open 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Seasonal specials available dine in or carryout. Large carryout meals include ham or turkey with choice of sides. Preorder until Monday, Nov. 22; pickup from 8 a.m. to 8 pm. Tuesday, Nov. 23 and Wednesday. Nov. 24, and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 25.   • Rohr’s: 130 Notre Dame Ave., South Bend. Carryout Thanksgiving meal includes chicken breast with appetizer, five sides, a roll and choice of apple or pumpkin pie. Feeds four people for $240.   • Ruth’s Chris Steak House: 902 E. University Drive, Granger. Open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Three-course Thanksgiving dinner — adults $44.95, kids 12 years and younger menu $15.95. Reservations highly recommended. Carryout Thanksgiving menu available as full orders, which serves 12 to16 people, and half orders, which feeds 6 to 8 people.   • The Prized Pig: 114 Lincoln Way E., Mishawaka. Smoked 12-pound turkeys for $70. Sides purchased separately. Preorder and prepay at 574-387-5624. Pickup Wednesday, Nov. 24.

  • The Skillet: 2212 McKinley Ave., South Bend. Drive-thru carryout on Thursday, Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Individual Thanksgiving meal with ham, turkey and five sides, rolls and a dessert for $20. Individual Polish buffet with broasted chicken, sausage and four sides, rolls and a dessert for $15. A four person family-style broasted chicken dinner with 8 pieces of chicken, three sides, rolls and a dessert for $32. No preordering necessary.

  • Tippecanoe Place: 620 W. Washington St., South Bend. Open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with Thanksgiving turkey meal or regular menu options. Reservations are full but information is still being taken for a waitlist. Carryout also available, with pre-ordering encouraged, call 574-234-9077.
