Dierks Bentley, Lady Wray and more: 5 shows to see in the Coachella Valley this weekend

Country: Country singer-songwriter Dierks Bentley has a talent for incorporating acoustic and bluegrass into his sound and isn't afraid to throw in some rock 'n' roll. Bentley has 21 No. 1 hits, nine albums that have reached platinum or gold status, three Country Music Association Awards and 14 Grammy Awards nominations. "Gravel & Gold," Bentley's first album in five years, was released in February and debuted at No. 14 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart.

According to a press release for the album, Bentley was in Telluride, Colorado with his family during the COVID-19 pandemic and was "kind of pushing music away for a little bit." He spent more time outdoors hiking, riding bikes and skiing. But after doing some writers' retreats and composing new songs, Bentley returned to Nashville to record with his band.

Bentley will perform Saturday at Acrisure Arena.

R&B: Lady Wray, aka Nicole Wray, has a classic soul voice with a sound intermixed with hip-hop and '90s R&B. It's no surprise the Virginia native auditioned for Missy Elliott in her mother's home when she was 15 years old and had her first hit in 1998 with "Make It Hot." Wray reinvented herself in 2014, performing in a soul duo known as Lady with R&B singer Terri Walker. Wray released the albums featuring her new soul sound "Queen Alone" in 2016 and "Piece of Me" in 2022.

Lady Wray will perform on Thursday at Pappy and Harriet's.

Mexican: Los Tigres Del Norte is one of the most recognizable names in Latin music. Since forming in 1968, the band has a catalog of 55 albums that have sold more than 30 million copies and are the subject of two recent documentaries, "Los Tigres del Norte: Stories to Tell" on Amazon Prime and "Los Tigres del Norte en la Prisión de Folsom" on Netflix.

The band made up of Northern Mexican cowboys is often considered a group of working-class heroes and have sang about the plight of voiceless populations in their country in songs such as "La Jaula De Oro," "La Bala," "La Puerta Negra," and the recent "Un Consentido de Dios."

R&B: Patti LaBelle has been referred to as the "Godmother of Soul" and that's not a surprise considering she's sold 50 million records, won two Grammy Awards, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Grammy Hall of Fame and received several lifetime achievement awards.

LaBelle will perform on Friday at Morongo Casino Resort and Spa in Cabazon.

Revue: Looking for a girl's night out? Thunder from Down Under has what you're looking for featuring men from the outback in performing in an interactive and immersive male dance revue. Similar to the Chippendales, the revue is one of the hottest tickets in Las Vegas and has performed to over 10 million people since 1991.

Thunder from Down Under will perform at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa in Rancho Mirage on Saturday.
