Diddy gives a shout-out to single parents after taking over carpool for late ex Kim Porter
Diddy’s life wasn’t so glamorous on Monday.
The rap mogul shared a video of his morning handling carpool duties, more than two weeks after the sudden death of Kim Porter, his former partner and the mother of several of his children.
Diddy — real name: Sean Combs — is the father of six children, four of whom he shared with Porter: 20-year-old son Christian, twin daughters D’Lila and Jessie, who turn 12 in December, and Porter’s son Quincy, now 27, who also grew up with Diddy as his father figure. The couple’s relationship began in the ’90s and lasted more than a decade. Son Justin, whose mother is Misa Hylton-Brim, is 24. (Justin and Quincy appeared on MTV’s My Super Sweet 16.) Daughter Chance is 12, and her mom is Diddy’s ex Sarah Chapman.
“Today the journey begins,” Diddy said on camera. “Thank you for all your prayers and support. I’m now a part of the 6 a.m. crew. This is mommy/daddy, daddy/mommy checking in.”
He added a caption to the clip: “New day. New life new RESPONSIBILITIES. KIM I GOT THIS. Just like you taught me!”
Adjusting to the early hours was obviously tough for him too.
Diddy acknowledged single mothers — and the single fathers — who are handling double duty because the other parent isn’t around.
“Mothers do it all the time,” he said. “Shout-out.”
Fans commenting on Diddy’s post sent their words of support. Still, some couldn’t help but point out that the responsibility of early morning carpool is a regular part of parenting for most of them:
“You’re an AWESOME father Diddy.. We love you!!! Keep your head up. U GOT THIS.”
“You got this! Ima a single mom of 7. The process will become easier eventually. All you have to do is take it day by day! Much respect and God bless you and your children!”
“Now part? Sorry puff u should have been doin this already! But God bless u sir! Sending love vibes and prayers to you and your babies! U got this!”

Diddy said after Porter’s death that the two were “more than soulmates,” and by all accounts, they had remained close friends.
Porter had suffered from pneumonia immediately before her death, and according to TMZ, an emergency call from her home reported a cardiac arrest. Following an autopsy in November, officials said they had not yet determined the cause of her death.
