After months of speculation, Rachel Bilson and Bill Hader made their relationship official by stepping out together on the red carpet at the 2020 Golden Globes. If you're wondering how that seemingly odd couple came together, you're not alone.

Both of them have been Hollywood fixtures for more than a decade, and they each achieved success at roughly the same time. If you're wondering how the two of them first met, though, that's kind of a complicated story to tell.

Bilson and Hader first worked together on 2013's "The To-Do List." The film was written and directed by Maggie Carey, who was Hader's wife at the time. That's not exactly the best way to meet a future girlfriend.

The two were first seen out together at a Starbucks in Hader's hometown. They were later spotted at an LA grocery store but still didn't confirm their relationship. Although no official announcement has come, the Globes were presumably meant to do that work for them.

Bilson first stepped into the spotlight with a central role on "The O.C.," which ran on Fox from 2003 to 2007. During the run of that show, Bilson dated Adam Brody, her co-star on the show.

The couple made their breakup official in 2007, and Brody eventually married the star of another teen drama sensation, "Gossip Girl's" Leighton Meester. Following the end of "The O.C.," Bilson played minor roles until she was cast as the lead of The CW's "Hart of Dixie," which ran until 2015.

Following her split from Brody, Bilson dated and had a child with "Star Wars" star Hayden Christiansen. A few years after the birth of their baby in 2014, the couple announced their split.

Hader came to fame following his stint on "Saturday Night Live," where he was a regular from 2005 to 2014. Following his work on "SNL," Hader has earned widespread acclaim for his lead performance, direction, writing, and creation of "Barry," a dramedy that currently airs on HBO.

Like his current partner, Hader is also coming out of a serious, long-term relationship. The 41-year-old actor married Maggie Carey in 2006 and got divorced in 2018. They have three children together that are currently 5, 7, and 10.

It's unclear how serious the relationship between Hader and Bilson is, but there's been speculation about it for quite a while. Whether it's made for the long haul is yet to be seen, but they seem happy together now, and that's what matters most.
