The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were heavily criticized for not spending the festive season at Sandringham with the Queen and the rest of the royal family.
It was seen as another sign of the couple distancing themselves, especially after the rumored feud between Prince Harry and Prince William, and the splitting of their households.
However, it appears the Duke and Duchess quite enjoyed their first Christmas as a family of three with baby Archie, hidden away from the prying eyes of the public.

The Duke and Duchess Of Sussex Spent Christmas In Canada
After a tough year that was full of media scrutiny leaving the couple feeling "bruised" and needing some private time, they decided to take a 6 week break from royal duties.
If they went to Sandringham for Christmas with the royal family, they would have to walk to church among hundreds of cameras and fans.
Rather than do this, the Sussexes took some time away at a private $14.1 million mansion on Vancouver Island, right on the water and away from the public.
They Stayed At A Private Mansion On Vancouver Island
The royal couple were seen by locals jogging around the island, as well as hiking, and it's been reported that Meghan's mother Doria Ragland has joined them.
A statement from Buckingham Palace said, "The Duke of Sussex has been a frequent visitor to Canada over many years, and it was also home to The Duchess for seven years before she became a member of the Royal Family."
It continued, "They are enjoying sharing the warmth of the Canadian people and the beauty of the landscape with their young son."
A New Photo Of Archie Was Released
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared a video on Instagram with highlights from 2019, and a previously unseen photo of Harry holding baby Archie, presumably in Canada, was shown.
A royal source recently spoke to Us Weekly and gave some details about Archie's first Christmas, and his personality.
It appears the new baby Sussex has inherited his father's outgoing personality, with the source saying, “You can tell Archie’s going to be a confident social butterfly."
They continued, "He loves being entertained and interacting with people. Some children get shy or nervous around new people, but not Archie. He’ll go to anyone without kicking up a fuss!”
Archie Was Spoiled For His First Christmas
Meghan and Harry are reportedly completely enamored with their son, and wanted to spoil him during the Christmas period.
The same source told Us Weekly, "The little one was spoiled this holiday season. Archie is Meghan and Harry’s world, and they can’t help it. For Christmas, they bought him books, building blocks, a baby ball pit. … It’s not all about extravagant gifts for them.”
The Sussexes also spent New Years at the same house in Canada. Their 6-week break should be coming to an end soon, so hopefully we'll be seeing more appearances from them and baby Archie.
