In 1995, Kenneth Perry was convicted of the attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl. He served about four-and-a-half years in prison before he was released. One of the conditions of his release was that he must register as a sex offender whenever he moves.

Petty married "Anaconda" rapper Nicki Minaj in 2019 and the two moved to California shortly after marrying. The two welcomed a son together in 2020.

Last year, Petty pleaded guilty to a federal charge of failing to register as a sex offender after moving to California. According to the United States Attorney's Office, Kenneth Petty faces a mandatory minimum of five years of supervised release. It was possible that he was facing a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release.

However, on Wednesday, July 6, a judge sentenced Petty to three years of probation and a year of in-home detention, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Petty must also pay a $55,000 dollar fine, according to CBS Los Angeles and MyNewsLA.com report, as shared by PEOPLE.

As such, Kenneth Petty will face no jail time.

In January 2021, The Blast reported that the "Super Bass" star stayed silent after Petty's alleged victim spoke on social media. According to the Daily Mail, Minaj had insisted that her husband had been wrongfully convicted and claimed that Petty's alleged victim, Jennifer Hough, now 43, planned to recant her statements. However, Hough denied the claim and filed a lawsuit, claiming that they tried to bribe her with $500,000 dollars to recant her 1995 testimony and allegedly threatened her and her family.

Last year, Hough posted an emotional video on social media begging Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty to leave her alone. In the video, she says, “For Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty, tell your people to leave my family alone. Okay."

She continued, “Don’t call my f---ing family, don’t call my brothers, don’t call anybody. Leave me and my family the f--- alone.”

Neither Nicki nor Kenneth publicly commented on the video. However, that didn't stop fans from calling her out on social media. This might be one of the reasons why Nicki was so quiet about her pregnancy and seemed reluctant to share photographs of her newborn on social media.

That being said, the “Roman’s Revenge” singer has seemed more comfortable sharing more photos of their baby online lately. In early 2021, she posted photographs of her baby boy on Instagram with the caption, “#PapaBear thank you so very much for choosing me to be your mama ??? Wishing you guys a happy & prosperous New Year."

"Thank you for your love & support throughout this journey. It’s meant so much to me," she continued. "Becoming a mom is by far the most fulfilling job I’ve ever taken on. Sending love to all the superhero mothers out there. Big hugs to all the women who have been pregnant during this challenging time.”

On October 5, 2021, Nicki created another Instagram post of the couple holding their baby on his first birthday.

"On Sept. 30th you turned 1," she wrote in the caption. "Mama is so proud of you, PapaBear. You're the best boy in the whole wide world. I don't know what I did to deserve you, but God bless you son. Mommy & Daddy will never stop loving you."

As The Blast recently reported, Nicki was featured on an episode of James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke.” During the episode, she spoke candidly about the challenges she faced living in the public eye.

“I think when you are a woman, and you’re in the public eye all the time, if you’re not careful, you can become less confident because you’re being constantly scrutinized," she said during their conversation.

"I just don’t think it’s natural," she added. "It’s not natural for a human being to just always feel like everyone’s critiquing them.”

At first, she said that she felt an "amazing sense of freedom" when she joined the music industry, but then quickly noticed that "It goes from that to the complete, complete opposite. Where it’s like, if I blink my eye wrong, they’ll have a story made up about why I blinked my eye that way."
