K-pop powerhouse NewJeans has been making waves since their debut. Within two years of their grand debut, the K-pop act snagged a special trophy at the Billboard Women In Music Awards 2024.
NewJeans has been setting itself apart from other K-pop groups from the beginning. While other music labels introduce a K-pop group through teasers and introductory videos, NewJeans launched the team straight into the music scene with the debut track, “Attention.”
Indeed, NewJeans’ surprise debut got the ‘attention’ of K-pop fans, and the song went to the top of Korea’s Circle Digital Chart.
NewJeans wins Group of the Year at Billboard Women In Music Awards 2024
NewJeans debuted on July 22, 2022, and in 2024, the group snagged the prestigious Group Of The Year trophy at the Billboard Women In Music Awards. The group looked emotional at this new milestone moment in their career. In the victory speech, New Jeans member Hanni expressed her gratitude to all the artists who have inspired them to pursue music.
Hanni said: “To be here today celebrating Women’s History Month and to participate in an awards show that’s overflowing with such amazing artists is so surreal and it’s hard to believe we’re in the same room as you all.”
I’d like to thank all the artists that are here because without your music, I don’t think we would have been able to grow up so inspired. Our love and passion for music has grown so much, thanks to you all.”
Hanni also gushed over the support the girl group has received since their debut, saying: “To be part of the music industry today is something we really don’t take for granted, and it wouldn’t have been possible without a lot of help from people and all the support we received.”
Along with the Billboard Women In Music Awards, NewJeans has already snagged multiple grand prizes (Daesang) of K-pop at AAA 2022 and AAA 2023. The “Hype Boy” crooners had snagged the ‘Performance of the Year’ trophy at the Asian Artist Awards 2022, becoming the fastest K-pop girl group to win a Daesang.
Later, in 2023, NewJeans won the Top Global K-Pop Artist trophy at the Billboard Music Awards 2023.
The group also won the Artist of the Year – Digital award at Circle Chart Music Awards 2024.
